I stared out the window, overwhelmed with thoughts of fleeting happiness. It was like this void in my life, always wanting more and more, but never feeling satisfied. It was like this black hole vacuum that I kept on feeding, but the hole never got any smaller.
I'm sure we've all faced these kinds of thoughts. It goes along the lines of, “If I just had ___, I'd be happy.”
“If I just had a car, I'd be happy.”
“If I just had extra money, I'd be happy.”
“If I just had the perfect body, I'd be happy.”
There are 3 major problems with this mindset
As you try to cover up that void of dissatisfaction in your life, you deepen it further.
You feel unsatisfied and empty
You end up feeling like sh*t
In this blog post, I aim to guide you on how to break this destructive habit.
What you will gain from this blog post:
A HUGE mindset shift
2 unique tips to shift your focus from those destructive thoughts
Overall, a sense of clarity and acceptance for how your life is right now.

Important Note
When you start telling yourself, “If I just had ___, then I'd be happy,” you are postponing your happiness. You're telling yourself, “Only when I get the thing I want will I be happy.”
You're pushing your happiness to some blurry, vague vision of the future, while simultaneously restricting your joy in the present moment. Not only that, but you are signaling to the universe that you aren't satisfied and grateful for what you have in the status quo (psst… not at all the vibrations we want for manifesting good things into your life)
This simple fact changed my entire thinking.
Our goal is to feel satisfied and happy with our lives in the present, so shouldn't we erase this thinking?
We should start by focusing on what we can do to make ourselves happier.

2 Unique Methods
The Simple Joys of Life.
A year ago, I decided to create this list in my notes app called the “simple joys of life.” It even had a photo album to accompany it.
The purpose of this list was to remind me what life is really about.
It's not about your next promotion, car, or iPhone.
It's not about material belongings or circumstances.
It's about the little things that make living worthwhile.
Those little things that amplify your experience on Earth.
Even when your whole life is falling apart, it's important to remember these little things to cling to and to appreciate them.
Some examples of simple joys of life include:
The satisfying crunch of dry leaves
Biking and feeling the wind on your skin
Mixing cookie batter
The feel of trickling water on your skin from the faucet.
And the list goes on ~
Being able to recognize these tiny moments allows you to romanticize your life further and gain appreciation for what your life is like in the current moment. It evokes a profound sense of satisfaction.

Mood Shifters
This is an amazing sensory experience that you can create for yourself to boost your mood.
I always use this technique whenever I'm negative or sad for no clear reason. It's also a way to feel better about your life and remove the heavy weight of feeling that your life is incomplete.
Open up your notes app, a note sheet, or any place where you can easily access this document throughout the day.
Go through your memory folder in your brain 📁 What memories make you feel loved and fuzzy? What memories make you double down laughing? Overall, the memories that you note down should create a smile on your face.
I would recommend at least 1 memory that made you feel especially loved, 1 memory that made you feel accomplished, and 1 funny memory that would make you laugh.
The overall gist of these mood shifters is that they're trying to change your mood from negative to positive by concentrating your focus on joyous memories.
These shifters help you realize that your life is filled with so many treasured and wholesome memories, and that you don't need more to make yourself happy.
