Happiness Comparison - "I wish I could have all the happiness she has in her life."

"Everyone seems to be so much happier than me," "I wish I could be as happy as him/her."

We all have faced these kinds of thoughts, and it hurts, especially when we are in a low state of mind.

It feels like we are alone in our suffering, but that is completely not the case.

Right now, you're just seeing a singular moment in someone else's life, you are seeing how they portray themselves to the public.

You have no idea what struggles they are facing on the inside.

I mean how many times have you tried to put on a happy face in public even when you were feeling like sh*t on the inside?

Everyone has struggles and challenges.

Everyone is facing their own internal battle every day.

Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.

This helps you realize that you aren't alone, everyone has bad days, days filled with frustration, sadness, guilt, anger, etc.

Also, if this person seems happy and joyous all the time, remember that you have no idea what they went through to get to that high point in their life. You just never know 😌.

Try this: A Gratitude Journal 📔

This will help you identify all the things that make you happy in your life. Studies have shown that people who are grateful and satisfied with their lives are happier.

You could try to make it a habit. For example, right before you sleep you could write 3 things you are grateful for.

You could even personalize your gratitude journal and make it look colorful; this will make you want to write in it.

Reminder: The key to stopping comparing yourself to others is to take whatever your comparison thought is and change the trajectory of it to something more positive and strengthening. Which is exactly what I'm about to share.

Below are some statements that will help you rewire your happiness comparison thoughts to more helpful and supportive thoughts.

1. "Someone else's happiness, doesn't mean the detriment of my own." Repeating this to yourself causes your mindset to shift from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset.

It forces you to stop thinking that if someone else has happiness, then you can't have it.

Happiness is abundant and repeating this to yourself helps you realize this. 💐

2. "I see the happiness in your life, and I see it in my life."

Your life as well has so many wonders and positives to it. Use this phrase as an opportunity to acknowledge all the joy in your life.

It could be as simple as having a quality education or a cozy home to live in. Anything in your life that causes you to be happy and satisfied.

3. "I'm happy for them"

There is so much light and joy in the world. Thinking this thought will automatically make you feel happiness for this person you're comparing yourself to.

Note: This will probably feel awkward saying these phrases in your mind, but repetition is key 🔑.

The more you repeat a belief you want to have in your mind, the more that belief will solidify.

You got this. 💪
